Get a one-page agreement signed on a phone
You already have the agreement. This page is how to send that PDF so the other person can sign it on a phone, with the date filled in by BoldSign.
If the only question is which date field to use, open Put the date on a signed agreement.
What should the date mean?
Set BoldSign to
MM/dd/yyyyDate signed
Drag Signature onto the signature line. Drag Date signed beside it. In that field’s settings, set Date format to MM/dd/yyyy and leave Time format on None if you only want the day. Date signed fills itself when the signer opens the document, and they cannot type over it. Do not use Editable Date for the day they signed. Editable Date is a date the signer picks.
Do it in this order
- Save the agreement as a PDF. One page is enough when the whole deal fits on one page. BoldSign also accepts a Word file, but a PDF is the file you can check before you send it.
- Start the send. In BoldSign, choose Create New, then Create New Document. Add the PDF. Add the other person as a Signer. If you must sign too, use Add Me. Turn on Signing order when one person has to sign before the other.
- Place the fields from the card. On Configure fields, drag Signature onto the signature line. Drag the date field named above, and set Date format to MM/dd/yyyy. Each person who signs needs their own Signature field.
- Send it to their phone. Preview, then Send. They open the email and tap Review and sign. They can draw a signature or pick a style. They do that in the phone’s browser. They do not need the BoldSign app.
- Keep both files. When the document is completed, download the signed PDF and the audit trail. The audit trail is the record of who opened it and who signed it.
What this will not do
- Write the words of the agreement. You still need the deal on the page before you upload it.
- Tell you the agreement is the right one, or that a signature will hold up in a dispute.
- Sign for someone who never opens the email.
The tool that sends it
BoldSign sends a document for someone else to sign. On BoldSign’s pricing page, the free Essentials plan includes up to 25 envelopes a month. One envelope is one send, even when that send holds more than one file. Paid prices are on that page. This page does not copy them.

The envelope limit is on BoldSign’s pricing page.
