Put the date on a signed agreement
The day someone signs is not a date they type. BoldSign has a field that fills that day in for them.
To send the whole agreement to a phone, use Get a one-page agreement signed on a phone.
Set BoldSign to
MM/dd/yyyyDate signed
On Configure fields, drag Date signed next to Signature. Set Date format to MM/dd/yyyy. Leave Time format on None if you only want the day. The field fills itself when the signer opens the document, and they cannot change it.
Which date field
- Date signed is the day they open the document to sign. It fills itself. Use it beside the signature.
- Editable Date is a day the signer picks or types, such as a start date or an end date. It does not record the signing. Set that one to MM/dd/yyyy too, and keep it off the signature line.
Do it in this order
- Leave a blank where the date should show. Do not type today’s date into the PDF and hope it stays true. The field writes the date when they open it.
- Drag Date signed into that blank. On Configure fields, set Date format to MM/dd/yyyy. A US agreement reads month, day, year in that order.
- Add Editable Date only for a date they must choose. A lease start, a due date, or a delivery day belongs in Editable Date, not in Date signed.
- Check the finished PDF. After they sign, the Date signed value should be on the page, and the audit trail should name the signer.
The tool that places the field
BoldSign’s Date signed field is filled by BoldSign. The signer does not get a box they can edit. Paid prices, and the free Essentials allowance, are on BoldSign’s pricing page. This page does not copy the dollar amounts.
